The Gouda Theater and Gouda Library present an event for young people about the municipal elections - Featured

On Monday, March 2, at 2 p.m., the Chocolate Factory will transform into a vibrant meeting place for young people who are voting for the first time. With the municipal elections of March 18 approaching, First Time Voters is all about the very first time that young voters' voices count. This new initiative is a collaboration between the Goudse Schouwburg and Gouda Library and is free to attend.

Many young people wonder whether their vote really makes a difference, or what political parties actually mean for their future. First Time Voters brings politics, culture, and humor together in an afternoon that is anything but boring. The Kiesmannen guide the audience through the political jungle with sharp analysis and humor, young parliamentary candidates debate with each other and with young people, and cultural acts provide energy and variety. There is plenty of room for questions, ideas, and concerns from young people themselves: their voice is central.

Following previous successful editions in October around the time of the Dutch parliamentary elections, the project is returning to Gouda, focusing specifically on first-time voters. This year's elections are seen as crucial for the direction of the municipality, and the votes of young people could be decisive in this regard.

First Time Voters is part of Theaterdelta Zuid-Holland, a partnership between the Leidse Schouwburg, the Goudse Schouwburg, and Kunstmin Dordrecht, aimed at connecting young people with art and culture. The project is made possible by the Cultural Participation Fund and will return in 2027 around the time of the Provincial Council elections.
