The old light factory is home to LF Gouda, where you can eat, drink, and party.
Enjoy the industrial heritage in the historic city center of Gouda. Feel the energy of the past, translated into the present!
Back in time, to 1910. The Municipal Light Factories of Gouda provided electricity to Gouda and the surrounding area. Electricity was mainly used for lighting above cozy kitchen tables; there were no vacuum cleaners, washing machines, or dryers yet. And at those kitchen tables sat our (great) grandparents, connected by the light that was produced here. They ate together, drank coffee, laughed, and later in the evening, poured themselves a drink.
Hendrik sat at such a kitchen table. With more than 40 years of service at the Lichtfabriek, he proudly polished the Stroom Turbines every day. Hendrik loved traditions and old crafts such as roasting coffee, baking bread, and fermenting vegetables.
Today, we once again appreciate how our grandparents prepared food. Why? Because it tastes good and is satisfying. Because it is authentic. And also because you can taste that people were connected to each other and to nature. And then think again of that light bulb above the kitchen table; connected by De Lichtfabriek Gouda!
The days of yesteryear are brought back to life, translated to the present! And proud Hendrik? He pours himself a beer. He is De Lichtfabriek, then and now!
FONDUE FABRIEK – open from October 27!
We love it, so let those warm winter pots burn, it's going to be creamy, cheesy, and quintessentially Dutch. You can put together your own fondue with us. Choose from three types: Gouda cheese, truffle cheese, or Gorgonzola with red port (which was by far the most popular last year). The cost is €16.95 per person. And if you don't like cheese, we've come up with a Satay Fondue for you! Everything you dip in the cheese, you can also dip in the Satay sauce.
