Hollandsche IJssel – Always Different

The Hollandsche IJssel from the water

For those who want to explore the Hollandsche IJssel from the water, the sailing map offers over 45 kilometers of sailing pleasure. From the source of the Hollandsche IJssel at Het Klaphek in IJsselstein to its mouth in the Nieuwe Maas at the Stormpolder in Krimpen aan de IJssel, you can enjoy beautiful sailing. Those who prefer not to maneuver between commercial vessels should stay on the east side of the Waaiersluis. It is wonderfully quiet there and you will mainly encounter recreational boats. There is plenty to see and do along both banks. The map shows you places of interest along the route and lists the options for mooring and spending the night. It also includes nice walking routes (between 2 and 10 km) for stretching your legs along the way.

Anyone who wants to explore the Hollandsche IJssel can currently download a free PDF of the maps from the Hollandsche IJssel – Altijd Anders website: www.hollandscheijsselaltijdanders.nl. The map can also be picked up at the Gouda Tourist Office.
